| Abstract: |
| 【 Objective】This research aims to analyze the distribution characteristics of soil organic carbon (SOC) and soil inorganic carbon( SIC) in farmland, and to quantify the conversion of SOC to inorganic carbonate,to provide a reference for farmland soil improvement and probing the carbon cycle process.【Method】Soil samples of different soil layers as well as soil CO2 gas were collected in the Science and Technology Park of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University,Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, before(May 8) and after(October 12) the growing season of maize in 2023,and the SOC and SIC contents and their stable isotope values(δ13 C) were determined by carbon stable isotope techniques. On this basis, the CO2 source and mass in the process of pedogenic carbonate( PIC) formation in the soil was calculated, and the SOC amount converted to inorganic carbonate during carbon sequestration was explored.【Result】During the crop growing season, the SOC content of the 0?100 cm soil layer ranged from 6. 01 to 13.38 g/kg,which generally decreased with increasing soil depth. The soil SIC content of the 0?100 cm soil layer ranged from 9.95 to 30.32 g/kg,which showed a trend of initially decreasing, then increasing and finally decreasing with the increasing soil depth. The δ13C of the SOC and SIC of the 0?100 cm soil layer showed a generally increasing trend. The proportion of PIC in the 0?100 cm layer ranged from 2.12% to 27.04%,and the content of PIC ranged from 0.49 to 6.84 g/kg. During the process of PIC formation, the content of CO2 produced by soil respiration ranged from 0.07 to 0.89 g/kg,which was the main source of CO2 fixed by the soil, and the proportion of CO2 ranged from 49.72% to 62.69%. For 0?10,10?20,20?40,40?60,60?80,and 80?100 cm soil layers, the amount of SOC converted to inorganic carbonate was 0.45,0.26,0.16,0.08,0.25,and 0.04 g/kg,respectively.【Conclusion】The conversion of organic carbon to inorganic carbonate in Inner Mongolia’s agricultural soils during the growing season was charac?
terized, providing a reference for the realization of‘ carbon neutrality’ in the region. |
