Abstract:
【Objective】The effect of NaCl stress on root characters and inorganic ions in Allium mongolicum Regel seedlings was researched and the salt tolerance was discussed to improve cultivation capacity of A. mongolicum Regel on saline-alkali soil.【Method】The changes of dry and fresh weights, length, surface area, volume, vitality and ions (K+,Na+,Ca2+ and Mg2+) in roots of A. mongolicum Regel seedlings were detected 15 days after NaCl stress (0(control,CK),25,50,75,100 and 150 mmol/L) by potted method.【Result】The weights of dry and fresh and root activity of A. mongolicum Regel seedlings decreased with the increase of NaCl content.Root length, surface area and volume increased firstly and then decreased with peak values at 50 mmol/L NaCl.The contents of Na+ and K+ in root of A. mongolicum Regel seedlings were higher than CK with peaks in 150 mmol/L NaCl treatment.Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents decreased under NaCl stress.【Conclusion】NaCl at concentrations of 25-50 mmol/L was profitable for root growth of A. mongolicum Regel seedlings with good root growth and no decrease in Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents.
