Effects of bagging on microenvironment and quality of oriental melon
SONG Tingyu,LI Bin,CHENG Yan,et al
Abstract:
【Objective】Daily variation of microenvironment and effects of bagging materials on fruit quality were researched to select suitable bags.【Method】Oriental melon ‘Lükui’ was bagged by different bags including sulfuric acid paper, kraft paper sacks, white plastic bag,red plastic bag, blue plastic bag, green plastic bag,and black plastic bag.Transmittance of bagging materials was determined by illuminance meter at first, then the daily variation of microclimate environment was measured, and the fruit quality was determined by HPLC in harvest period.【Result】There was significant connection between daily variation of microenvironment and transmittance of bagging materials.Higher light transmittance led to higher light intensity and temperature, but lower CO2 concentration and relative humidity.Fruit quality was also affected by transmittance of bagging materials.Higher transmittance caused deeper fruit color, higher contents of soluble sugar, soluble protein, free amino acid content, vitamin C,soluble solids and total sugar, and lower organic acid content.【Conclusion】Quality of oriental melon bagged with white plastic bag and sulfuric acid paper was better.Sulfuric acid paper is suggested to use for oriental melon bagging considering environmental protection.
