Abstract:
【Objective】The effect of aqueous extracts from alfalfa stem and leaf at different concentrations on the germination and prior seedling growth of Bromus inermis Leyss and Lolium perenne L.was discussed in this study.【Method】The effect of aqueous extracts from alfalfa stem and leaf with concentrations of 0.05,0.08,and 0.10 g/mL on seed germination rate, seedlings length, and root length of B.inermis Leyss and L.perenne L. was investigated with petri dish filter paper method compared with distilled water method.【Result】Inhibitive effects of aqueous extracts from alfalfa stem and leaf with different concentrations on seed germination, seedling length and root length of B.inermis Leyss and L.perenne L. were obtained. The inhibition enhanced as the increase of concentrations. The average inhibition rates of extracts with concentrations of 0.05,0.08,and 0.10 g/mL on seed germination rate, seedling length and root length of B.inermis Leyss were 20.39%,28.42%,and 37.00%,and those of L.perenne L. were 35.43%,46.77%,and 63.99%.【Conclusion】B.inermis Leyss had stronger adaptability and resistance than L.perenne L. against extracts from alfalfa. Thus, bromus inermis is more suitable for mixed sowing with alfalfa.
